Higher Education Policy Commission Files Legislative Rules for Review

7/14/2008

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) has filed legislative rules with the Secretary of State's office. The proposed rules for the West Virginia Research Trust Fund Program will be open for review and written comment until 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2008.

The availability of the rules will be advertised in the State Register. In addition, the proposed rules will be available for review at the HEPC office in Charleston.

In March, the West Virginia Legislature passed Senate Bill 287 to establish the West Virginia Research Trust Fund. The fund will make public moneys available to the state's two doctoral-granting public research universities (West Virginia University and Marshall University) to match private donations and pledges as an incentive for donors to support priority areas of study consistent with the institutions' strategic plans for research.

Written comments on the proposed rules for the trust fund may be submitted to Dr. Paul L. Hill, vice chancellor for science and research, HEPC, 1018 Kanawha Blvd. E., Ste. 1101, Charleston, WV 25301.
