CHARLESTON, WV – West Virginia Insurance Commissioner, Jane L. Cline, along with Inspector General, Gary N. Griffith, announced today that a Braxton County man has plead guilty to one misdemeanor count of fraudulent schemes and sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay restitution. Fred Lee Morgan, age 61 of Frametown, who is a disabled employee of the West Virginia State Police, was using his wife’s insurance to pay for medications and then seeking reimbursements from his former employer who is financially responsible for his medical benefits.
Commissioner Cline, “Medical insurance costs continue to rise as do the premiums to insure consumers and we have to ensure that individuals are using their medical insurance appropriately and legally. Criminal activities such as these continue to increase the costs of medical insurance and if premiums are to be stabilized, we must continue to fight fraud where individuals are seeking to defraud the system.
