Valentine Options at Canaan Valley Resort Feb. 14 Weekend

2/10/2009  DAVIS, W.Va. – This year the long Presidents’ Day weekend shares the calendar with Valentine’s Day, and to celebrate, Canaan Valley Resort State Park has Valentines options for those who want to ski and for those who want just a night away or a fireside sweetheart dinner and lounge entertainment.

·         For the weekend of Feb. 13-15, Canaan Valley Resort boasts a Valentine’s package that includes lodging for two, a country breakfast buffet in the Hickory Room and Beech Club privileges for the indoor pool, fitness center and whirlpool. The cost is $159 per package per night. Skiing is not included but available as an add-on for those who want to hit the slopes.

·         On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Hickory Room will feature a fireside three-course Valentine Dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. and a rose for the ladies. Reservations are recommended. Following dinner, enjoy the music of Brother Short in the Laurel Lounge from 9 p.m. to midnight. Entertainment is open with no cover charge.

“The weather this year has been some of the best for skiing,” said David Bostic, Canaan Valley Resort general manager. “All of our easy and intermediate slopes are open and more than 90 percent of the difficult slopes are as well. The terrain and tubing parks are in great shape and guests who want to do some cross country skiing or snowshoeing will find fine trails at Canaan. However, our Valentine’s package doesn’t include skiing because of the many calls asking for a lodging and breakfast option only, with the ability to add skiing. Many people enjoy skiing and many also enjoy the comfortable atmosphere and views at Canaan Lodge and the opportunity to relax.”

Canaan Valley Resort is located in Davis W.Va., 12 miles from Blackwater Falls State Park and is less than four hours from many Mid-Atlantic seaboard cities and only 165 miles from Dulles Airport outside of Washington, D.C.  Guests may also choose to arrive through the Elkins Randolph County Airport that is less than 40 miles away

Davis was ranked one of the top 10 ski towns in the nation by Men’s Journal. For more information, visit www.canaanresort.com or call 1-800-622-4121.
