2010 West Virginia Wildlife Calendars are Available 

The cover of this wall calendar features an outstanding painting of an alert male turkey in the fall. This detailed, lifelike work of art is only one of the 12 beautiful paintings in this year’s calendar. Other gorgeous paintings include a pair or northern pintails, an immature red-tailed hawk and cedar waxwings. A red squirrel, cottontail rabbit, green frog and a tuliptree silkmoth also grace the pages of this large-format calendar. The unique central stoneroller is also featured, as is a beautiful scene of the Buckhannon River. A brief description of the subject accompanies each painting. 

Feature articles highlight Didymo (an invasive algae), the Archery in the Schools program, and a look at all of the 25 Wildlife Calendar covers produced by WVDNR. The calendar also contains the 2010 hunting and fishing license fees. 

“The calendar is full of interesting daily facts, best fishing days and times and monthly helpful tips to help you fully enjoy the outdoors. Its $10 price tag makes it a terrific bargain and a great holiday gift. Everyone who enjoys and ventures into the outdoors will want to own one,” Taylor said. 

The 2010 West Virginia Wildlife Calendar is available at WVDNR District Offices, department stores, newsstands, convenience marts and food stores throughout the state or through the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, P.O. Box 67, Elkins, WV 26241, phone 304-637-0245. Make checks payable to WVDNR in the amount of $14 for each calendar, which includes shipping and handling (W.Va. residents add $.60 for tax; VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted). Organizations, clubs and civic groups can also profit by selling the Wildlife Calendar as part of their fund-raising activities.
