A Whole Lot of Shakin’ at Beech Fork State Park July 18

7/10/2009

Beech Fork State Park near Barboursville will be shakin’ Saturday, July 18 at 7 p.m. as campers, cabin guests and park visitors enjoy Guy Weatherholt entertaining as Elvis Presley in the park activities room.

An Ashland, Kentucky, resident, Elvis impersonator Guy Weatherholt will be performing at West Virginia State Park’s largest campground setting, Beech Fork. Weatherholt, who has impersonated Elvis for about 20 years, enjoys entertaining and interaction with people of all ages. Like Presley, Weatherholt hands out a scarf at each performance and croons many song favorites.

As a young child, Weatherholt loved singing "Hound Dog."  An impromptu Elvis song at a summer camp show at state park in Kentucky as a teenager began his interest in impersonation.  Weatherholt has continued to perform at various community functions and group settings.

“There will never be another Elvis Presley, but it sure is nice to remember a rock and roll legend,” says Zach Beckett, Beech Fork State Park naturalist. “We have a lot of fun planning activities and programs at Beech Fork throughout the summer, and having an Elvis in the building will be a treat for our visitors and guests.”  Beckett posts weekly activities on the Beech Fork Web site and includes hikes, games and special events such as Elvis.

There is no charge to attend. The show will last about 30-45 minutes. For more information about Beech Fork State Park, cabins, campground, swimming or activities, visit online www.beechforksp.com or call 304-528-5794.
