Partnerships in Golf at Tygart Lake State Park

4/12/2010  GRAFTON, W.Va. – Tygart Lake State Park, tucked away near Grafton, has a 20 -room lodge and is known for fishing, boating and some scuba diving. It has a restaurant, meeting room, cabins and campground. However, it does not have a golf course.

“We may not have a golf course, but we have golf partners, and golfers have discovered us,” said Tygart Lake State Park Asst. Supt. Brennon O’Sullivan.

Tygart Lake State Park partners with two area golf courses: Bel Meadow Golf Club and Tygart Lake Public Golf Course.  Overnight accommodations at Tygart Lodge and golf play at either course are part of the packaged rate. There is a variety of options according to the park Web site at www.tygartlake.com.

Tygart Lake State Park opens April 16, 2010, and closes for the season on January 2, 2011. Packages range from weekday, Monday through Thursday, in a four person cabin to weekend play of three consecutive nights and three day play including cart at either course. Spring, summer and fall packages are available for lodge or cabin accommodation options.

Bel Meadow Golf Club and Tygart Lake Public Golf Course are owned and operated by Brad Westfall. “It is a good match for us at Tygart. Golf adds to the park appeal of outdoor recreation,” said O’Sullivan.  In five minutes a park guest can be at Tygart Lake Public Course and in 30 minutes arrival at Bel Meadow. Both courses get good reviews from our guests. We also have a strong Canadian interest in our golf packages and other state parks courses.”

Tygart Lake features a 20-room lodge, full service restaurant, vacation cabins, picnicking, hiking trails and a full schedule of special events and summer activities.
