Pipestem State Park Amphitheater Presents The Greenes Gospel Group July 12

7/9/2008  The family gospel group, The Greenes, will be performing at Pipestem Resort Amphitheater July 12. The Greenes emerged from North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains region in 1978, comprised of brothers Tim and Tony, and TaRanda Kiser. New Hope Road Gospel Band also is part of the evening’s musical talent.

The Greenes perform Saturday, July 12, beginning at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $8; event day $10.  Children prices are available. The Outdoor Amphitheater seats 525 people with approximately 1,000 additional seats on the hillside for blankets or chairs.

“This is an evening of great gospel music,” according to Steve Bolar, Pipestem Superintendent.  Their chart-topping hits include #1 songs such as “When I Knelt, “ “In The Twinkling Of An Eye,” and “Jesus’ Rocking Chair.” Their last singles, “Glorious City of God” and “I’m So Happy,” were successful charting songs, while their current release, “Some Sweet Day,” is still climbing to the top.

The Greenes host one of the nation’s largest outdoor Gospel Sings in their hometown of Boone, NC. The event, held annually in August, brings thousands of people into Boone to celebrate Gospel music. Tony Greene promotes this event as well as several events throughout the year. He has released a comedy recording, “Life’s Too Short Not to Laugh,” and is recognized as one of the funniest new Christian comedians. The Greenes can be seen regularly on the Gaither Homecoming Series concerts and recordings.
