Cars and gospel singing are a winning combination at
Cabwaylingo State Forest Saturday, May 2, as the Cabwaylingo State Forest Foundation presents the annual Show of Wheels Spring Fest.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with a parade beginning at the Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department and proceeding to the McClintic Group Camp at the forest. Registration for the car show will run from 1 to 3 p.m., with awards being announced at 5 p.m. Door prizes will be drawn at the top of every hour.
“The spring festival will be held even if the weather turns wet,” said Cabwaylingo Assistant Superintendent Lynette Simko. “We are looking forward to a big turnout. We have invited past participants to return and are hoping for many newcomers this year.”
Making the day even more special will be a gospel music concert featuring local groups beginning at 1 p.m. They will perform under the large shelter where the Show of Wheels registration and drawings are announced.
Bring a picnic lunch or take advantage of concessions featuring hot dogs, pizza, baked goods and other tasty items. Carnival-style games will be available nearby. “It will be a great day of fun for the whole family,” said Simko.
Cabwaylingo State Forest is located on 8,123 heavily forested acres in the heart of southern West Virginia in Wayne County. Built in the 1930s, the forest gets its unique name from the four surrounding counties which it serves: CABell, WAYne, LINcoln, MinGO.
