Spring Clean-up Planned at Beech Fork State Park April 3

3/17/2010  BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – Volunteers and friends of Beech Fork State Park are invited to participate in the annual spring clean up at Beech Fork State Park Saturday, April 3. Beech Fork State Park is located near Barboursville and is the largest state park campground in West Virginia with 275 campsites, vacation cabins, outdoor swimming pool, hiking trails, picnicking and summer activity programming.

The Beech Fork event is one of the 2010 West Virginia Make It Shine statewide cleanups recognizing Governor Manchin’s REAP initiative.  “If you are interested in participating in the Beech Fork State Park Spring Cleanup, we’d be happy to have your assistance,” said Beech Fork Superintendent Matt Yeager. “This will be the second year we have offered registered volunteers participating in the cleanup free camping for April 2-4 as a thank you.”  The cleanup has removed more than 50 tons of garbage and hundreds of tires in past years.

“Folks young and not so young, families, and individuals all have made this event not only productive, but enjoyable,” Yeager said.  “Everyone signs up to help because they like Beech Fork and what the park offers. It may seem like a simple thing, but giving back by helping us police the parks grounds on one day is a great act of kindness not only to the park, but to other park guests who will visit the area this coming vacation season. We are very appreciative for the support.”

Lunch will be provided for registered volunteers. A registration form is online at www.beechforksp.com under the tab “Events/Deals, Activities” or by calling Beech Fork State Park direct at 304-528-5794.
