
Governor Manchin Appoints Sara McLaughlin Cline as Acting Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Banking

CHARLESTON, W.Va.— Gov. Joe Manchin today announced the appointment of Sara McLaughlin Cline as the Acting Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Banking.
Ms. McLaughlin Cline has served the State Division of Banking for 13 years as Deputy Commissioner and Director of Depository Institutions among other previously held roles. During her tenure, Ms. McLaughlin Cline has ensured all state-chartered depository institutions and bank holding companies offer continous quality programs, developed regulatory and administrative policies as well as monitored institutions regulated in the State of West Virginia. Ms. McLaughlin Cline’s experience also includes the private sector.
“Ms. McLaughlin Cline has been an instrumental part of the Division of Banking,” Manchin said. “She began her career with the state as a bank examiner and has worked her way up to leadership roles within the Division of Banking. Her experience brings skill and a vast understanding of the banking industry to the Office of the Commissioner.”
Ms. McLaughlin Cline’s Acting Commissioner duties begin Aug. 4, 2008. She replaces former Commissioner Larry A. Stark. A search for a permanent replacement continues.
The West Virginia Division of Banking is the state regulatory agency responsible for the oversight of our state’s financial services industry, including the supervision of financial institutions licensed and chartered by the State of West Virginia as well as other entities that engage in financial activity in the state.
