A Groovy Kind of Murder: Jan. 9-11, 2009, Historic Fayette Theater, Fayetteville.

An audience participation murder mystery written by Karen Vuranch is a musical spoof on the 1960s. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors (55 and up) and students (12 and under). Evening performances on Jan. 9 and 10 begin at 8 p.m. with a matinee on Jan.11 beginning at 2 p.m. For more information, call 304-574-4655.

Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees: Running through March 6, 2009, The Clay Center, Charleston.

Dr. Jane Goodall's legendary work with the chimpanzees of Tanzania's Gombe Stream National Park is the subject of this remarkable giant-screen film, which takes viewers on an extraordinary trip deep into Gombe and across four decades of research to experience the world of the chimpanzee. Dr. Goodall's discoveries in her forty years of research at Gombe, including her groundbreaking observations of chimpanzees making and using tools, have not only revolutionized our understanding of chimps, but ultimately of human behavior itself. The film will run through March 6, 2009. Clay Center members receive reduced admission to giant-screen films. MLK Weekend: Jan. 16-19, 2009, Timberline Four Seasons Resort, Davis.

During this long MLK holiday weekend expect continuous activity at the Timberline Lodge. Start the day off with an early-morning breakfast in the Timberhaus cafeteria at 6 a.m. and then wrap up the day at the Timber Pub with entertainment that will feature James Michel Woodyard from 4 - 8 p.m. and McClure’s Drive from 9 - 1 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Riding the Rails, Railroads Connecting WV: Running through Dec. 31, 2009, Chief Logan State Park, Logan.

The Riding the Rails exhibition has text panels detailing railroad development in West Virginia. The exhibit also contains artifacts from the West Virginia State Museum collection. Standard operating hours of the Museum in the Park are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday though Saturday and 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sundays.
