This small community’s annual spring festival includes Irish road bowling, a snake chase, an Irish jig, harp workshops, car show, arts and crafts, games, parade, food and much more. Agatha Christie's “The Mousetrap”: March 13-15 and March 20-22, Apollo Civic Theatre, Martinsburg.  

A classic murder thriller, Agatha Christie's “The Mousetrap” will keep the audience in suspense. Performances are scheduled for March 13-15 and March 20-22, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission prices are $15 for Friday and Saturday evenings, $12 for Sunday matinees and $7 for all showings for students with ID. 6th Annual Culinary Classic: March 13-14, Stonewall Resort, Roanoke.

Spend St. Patrick’s Day at the Capitol Market Green Chili Shoot Out. Scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., more than 30 chili cooks will compete for the $1,000 first place prize. You don’t have to be Irish to join in the fun of the 3rd annual Irish Festival at Pipestem Resort State Park. “Grace O’Malley, Irish Pirate” Dinner Theater: March 14, Hawks Nest State Park, Ansted.

Karen Vuranch will bring to life the legend of Grace O’Malley in this performance. Known as a pirate queen who sailed the high seas in the 16th century, O’Malley also fought against the conquest of Ireland by its powerful neighbor, England. A leader of an army of men and a strong political figure in a time when women had no personal power, the story of Grace O’Malley offers insight to the political struggles of Ireland during that era.  Maple Syrup Festival: March 21-22, Pickens.

Celebrate West Virginia’s long tradition of sugar making at the Maple Syrup Festival March 21-22. Weekend activities include an all-day pancake feed, 65 crafters, free music, square dance, tours of the sugar house, 5k run, woodchopping exhibition, West Virginia wineries, antique gas engines, woodcarving and a muzzle loading contest.
