A hauntingly innovative idea: 'Ghost kitchens' help West Virginia restaurants generate revenue amid pandemic

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — For some time now, some North Central West Virginia restaurants have been following a nationwide trend known as “ghost kitchens” — online-only restaurants that cater to delivery and pickup within the walls of an already established restaurant.

According to Outback Steakhouse Manager Amanda Criss, the popular restaurant has one called Tender Shack located within its brick-and-mortar store, only available through meal delivery services like DoorDash.

According to Criss, Tender Shack falls under the umbrella of Bloomin’ Brands, the parent company of Outback Steakhouse, and features menu options entirely separate from Outback.
