Aerospace industry remains an important economic driver in North Central West Virginia

The North Central West Virginia aerospace industry remains one of the region’s primary economic drivers.

Bridgeport’s North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB) and the collection of aerospace-related businesses surrounding it generate a total annual economic impact of $1.1 billion, support over 1,480 full-time jobs and would be the sixth-largest employer in the region if it were a single employer, according to a 2019 study.

Tracy Miller, president of the Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex, the entity responsible for promoting the airport and the tenants on its campus, said the region’s aerospace industry has continued to thrive even amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
