CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — West Virginia Commerce Secretary James Bailey was tapped to lead the state’s most diverse department at the beginning of December.
A veteran civil servant with experience serving several of the agencies within Department of Commerce, Bailey was appointed by Gov. Jim Justice following the retirement of former Secretary Ed Gaunch.
“I learned countless things from him just by watching him,” Bailey said of his predecessor. “He’s a great man, and I wouldn’t be, not just where I am today in this position, but I wouldn’t be the person I am without getting to know him.”
