Build-Up Berkeley prepares business owners to make an impact on the community


MARTINSBURG — The Berkeley County Development Authority hosted the Build-Up Berkeley Business Pitch Competition at the Apollo Civic Theatre on Thursday evening.

Through this program, people in the community had the opportunity to take free classes through Blue Ridge Community and Technical College and present their business ideas. Contestants presented their business pitch in front of a panel of judges and whoever received the highest score won $10,000 to help fund their project.

There were 10 finalists who presented, including Shuggie Macs, Cloud Nine, Next Level Auto Detailing, Sustainable Sand Solutions, Gorilla Sales, Rock Cliff Productions, Goldfinch Teahouse, The Dandiest Life, Oakwood BBQ and Indigo Garden School.
