Chris Holmes, a 44-year-old from Sissonville, fell ill with COVID-19 last summer and spent 80 days in the hospital fighting for his life.
Everyone in his family contracted COVID, Holmes said, except for his daughter, a healthcare worker who chose to get vaccinated. After his near-death experience, Holmes said he encourages West Virginians to take the vaccine.
“If the roles were reversed and she was laying there and I was the one that told her not to get vaccinated, I couldn’t live with myself,” he said.
