Contractors to start moving steel on new Nitro-St. Albans bridge

2/24/2022

Contractors plan to start installing the first main steel deck support girders for a massive overhaul of the Donald M. Legg Memorial Bridge on Monday, weather permitting.

The overhaul is part of the $2.8 billion Roads to Prosperity highway construction and maintenance program, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.

The project calls for building a second bridge just north of the existing bridge.
