Cool off at these West Virginia state parks

7/22/2021

Summer temps are sweltering, but don’t let that stop you from getting outside and having fun. Cool off with exciting water activities at West Virginia’s state parks and forests. And if you’d rather float in the water and relax, we’ve got you covered on that, too!

The first of its kind in the state park system, the Adventure Lake and Splash Park at Pipestem Resort State Park features a wide sandy beach for sunbathing and a water playground where adults and kids alike can climb giant inflatable mountains, slides, trampolines and jump into the lake. The Splash Park and Kids’ Zone features 18 splash features just for the littlest ones. Spray your friends, slide and run around through spraying flowers … but beware of the dumping buckets!

Pipestem’s water park was such a hit that we added another one to the state park system this year. The Adventure Lake at Tygart Lake State Park features 25 giant inflatables and a sandy beach area with lounge chairs where you can catch some rays while you’re drying off.
