Craft beer industry having economic impact on local communities

Charles Bockway wants economic developers to understand how the craft beer industry can benefit communities.

“We are trying to illustrate to a roomful of economic development people the power of craft beer to improve community development, bring business to downtown, and … have a lot of spin-off improvements or benefits to the communities of West Virginia, where we don’t have a ton of craft breweries already,” he said.

Bockway, of Charleston, operates the Brilliant Stream website, which he uses to promote and discuss the craft beer industry in West Virginia. He was the moderator of the “Crafting Change” session at the West Virginia Economic Development Council’s annual fall conference in Huntington.
