Education Program Coming to Clarksburg as Pierpont Announces $2 Million Expansion on Chestnut Street

7/27/2021

A section of downtown Clarksburg that was already seeing improvement got another big boost today. Late this morning, Mayor Jimmy Marino and other dignitaries were on hand for the official announcement that the Pierpont Community and Technical College is doing a seven-figure expansion.

“This is a pretty big deal for Clarksburg and a pretty big deal for those looking to further their education locally,” said Marino.

The facility is the former Gaston Caperton Center that was built as a satellite campus for Fairmont State College decades ago during Percy Ashcraft’s stint at city manager. As for the expansion, it will encompass property at 211 South Chestnut Street – on the corner of Main Street.
