Fairs and festivals leader welcomes news of May 1 opening

3/27/2021

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Governor Jim Justice says all fairs, festivals, and similar events in West Virginia will be allowed to resume, beginning May 1.

Justice announced during his coronavirus briefing on Monday. The events will be able to open under guidelines expected to be announced later this week but Kelly Collins, the President of West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals said anything is welcoming news.

“There was few that were able to get in, in the summer of last year but not many. So, for the most part, a lot of us have been closed going on two years now if you consider where our events are in the summer,” Collins told MetroNews of events being shuttered in 2020.
