Hurricane elementary student heading to world archery tournament

HURRICANE, W.Va. — A 10-year-old from Putnam County is taking his archery skills to a world tournament. 

Lenon Hodge, a student at Hurricane Town Elementary, has qualified for the 2021 National Archery in Schools Program World Archery Championship, according to a news release. Hodge qualified by finishing in the top 100 in the U.S. in his division. 

The Hurricane native finished second in the state and 54th nationally in the elementary division. More than 15,000 archers from 1,053 schools competed in the 2021 national tournament.
