Marshall, WVU link resources with U.S. Cyber Command network

West Virginia’s two largest universities have joined forces with the U.S. Department of Defense to protect and serve the nation while their students gain current — and future — work skills in cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity is a burgeoning career field. According to a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report, more than 200,000 cybersecurity positions in the nation remain unfilled, with cybersecurity employment postings up 74% over the past five years.
The agency adds that employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 33% through the end of the decade, at a faster pace than average among occupations. Median annual pay in May 2020 exceeded $103,000, the BLS added.
