Mountain biking adventures at West Virginia state parks and forests

Over the past couple of years, mountain biking has experienced a surge in popularity, with many of the new riders being children and families. The sport is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors while also spending quality time with loved ones.
That’s why West Virginia state parks and forests continue to build biking trails for all skill levels. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or a seasoned racer, you’re sure to find some fun trails to navigate in Almost Heaven.
If you’re interested in learning how to mountain bike but don’t know where to begin, North Bend State Park is a great place to start. Adjacent to North Bend, the North Bend Rail Trail is ideal for beginners. Its gentle grade and crushed limestone path are easy to navigate. Other rail trails that offer an easy introduction to mountain biking include West Virginia’s newest state park, the Elk River Rail Trail.
