Skiing and snowboarding in Almost Heaven

West Virginia is a prime location in the southeast for skiing and snowboarding. Due to a combination in snow patterns and elevation, West Virginia is one of the first states to receive snow, which allows for a long season on the slopes. Trails range from beginner to advanced, so no matter where your skill level might be, there’s a pass for you. Natural snowmaking, high peaks, long runs and unsurpassed beauty make for a winter experience like no other.

Canaan Valley Resort State Park is a four-season destination, but it really shines in the winter with its slopes. The resort features four lifts, 47 runs, and 850 feet of elevation change. More than half of its terrain is long beginner and intermediate runs, and the rest is advanced and expert territory.
