The Cryptids of West Virginia – Legends & Myths Become Much Beloved State Lore

From the Loch Ness Monster to the Jersey Devil, the world loves to believe in otherworldly creatures, and West Virginia is no exception. Cryptids are a combination of reported sightings and urban legend even when they are seen in non-urban places. From Point Pleasant’s Mothman, who was made famous in the movies, to Pendleton County’s Bat Boy, who was made famous by tabloids, the Mountain State embraces its weird and wonderful beasts, even if they have to be nurtured by our imaginations.
