West Virginia Department of Arts sets poetry recital contest

CHARLESTON — Organizers of the 2024 West Virginia Poetry Out Loud competition invites the state’s public and private high schools, homeschool associations and non-school organizations, to hold their own poetry recital contests. Winners may participate in the statewide event.

Sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, the event will be held March 8-9 at the Culture Center in the State Capitol Complex. Its goal is to help students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence and learn about classic and contemporary poetry.
