West Virginia to receive $43M as part of U.S. Interior Department effort for land revitalization in coal communities

WASHINGTON (WV News) — West Virginia is set to receive more than $43 million as part of federal revitalization efforts of land in coal communities.

According to a release from the U.S. Department of the Interior, the agency is making $260 million in total available throughout the nation through grant programs aimed at helping stabilize communities hit hardest by the decrease in demand for coal energy.

These programs include the Abandoned Mine Land and Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization programs.
