West Virginia tourism spending sees ‘continued growth'

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Climbing costs and rising inflation didn’t deter visitors from exploring West Virginia’s national parks last year, according to a recently released federal report.

Visitor spending in local gateway regions while visiting National Park Service lands in West Virginia increased more than $43 million in 2021 over the previous year, the “2021 National Park Service Visitor Spending Effects Report” by the NPS found.

In 2021, 2.2 million national park visitors spent an estimated $109 million in West Virginia.
