West Virginia’s state parks prepare for spring season

3/11/2023

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The spring equinox arrives later this month, and state parks in North Central West Virginia are preparing for the new season and adding events to the calendar.

Although the weather may have been springlike for most of the winter, the lengthening hours of daylight mean more time will be spent outdoors.
That means more time to  take full advantage of outdoor recreational activities at West Virginia state parks.

“West Virginia’s 35 state parks and nine forests account for 1.5 million acres of the state, meaning no matter where you find yourself in Almost Heaven, there’s likely one nearby. There are no entry fees to these parks and a majority of them host community events throughout the year too. It’s a great way to spend time in the great outdoors, reconnect with friends and family and enjoy the natural beauty of the Mountain State,” said Lauren Hough, public relations manager of the West Virginia Department of Tourism.
