Weston’s HubCAP V team is working to create ‘Halloweentown USA

The Weston HubCAP team has set its sights on becoming “Halloweentown USA” through the placemaking grant opportunity provided this fall through the HubCAP V funding.

Larry Haddix, a long-time businessman and owner of H&M Motors in downtown Weston, was the ideator of the event. Having organized with various other community groups throughout the year generating support for a trunk or treat event at the center of town during Weston’s trick or treat night. More than 3,000 people attended the event last year, which was complete with fireworks, spurring the idea to go even bigger this year. Haddix felt that with the visitors to the annual Hearsemania event and haunted season at Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (TALA), Weston was missing a prime opportunity to market itself and be involved in the festivities.
