Wineries in NCWV welcoming visitors this spring and summer

As the weather warms up, some of the area’s wineries will be welcoming guests for tastings.

Forks of Cheat is a winery outside Morgantown that has been in operation for over 30 years.

“We’re about six miles north of Morgantown heading toward Point Marion, Pennsylvania. We’ve been in business since 1990. We’re one of the older continuously owned wineries in the state, and perhaps the largest,” said Eric Deal, co-owner and director of operations of Forks of Cheat Winery.

“We’re producing anywhere in the range of 18,000-20,000 gallons a year of French hybrids and American varietal grapes, and also we’ve brought in a series of ciders that we’re doing now — strawberry, apple and that sort of thing. We also own a distillery as well,” he said.
